Hi guys,
I am doing research for my dream home, me and wife have been viewing some properties in Sidcup and Lee (South east) area, Can someone comment which area is better? I know they both have got nice and doggy areas, but in general which one is better?

All rather subjective however I have been reliably informed.....
Sidcup - around the Green, Wellington ave & Church road areas all good. The Hollies has some nice properties in.
Avoid sidcup hill down to Footscray.
Like most areas it was better 10 years ago before people were displaced out from SE London.... but for your money you get more 20 miles south in Rochester.:DAlways on the hunt for a bargain.0 -
as a general rule, and i know im stereotyping but i find that part of london quite racist, the whole sidcup, lee, eltham, bexley areas0

I'd say the two areas are very different, so it will depend on what style of place you're after. Lee is just an area of Lewisham really, so it's essentially a London feel, busy, good transport etc. Sidcup is suburbia, quieter, leafier, but much worse transport links and smaller minds.
Personally, I'd pick Lee out of the two, but it will depend on what you want from your locality.0 -
what a load of tosh ive lived my whole life in the south east woolwich eltham and camberwell and no way are those areas racist, they are no different to many other suburbs.sidcup and lee not too bad but not as nice as they used to be avoid footscray a bit rough and some parts of lee burnt ash hill not too great.as a general rule, and i know im stereotyping but i find that part of london quite racist, the whole sidcup, lee, eltham, bexley areasBefore you point fingers, make sure your hands are clean !;)0 -
Like other posters have said, Sidcup is a bit more "suburban" and of the two I prefer Lee purely because you have the choice of cheap shopping in Lewisham or walking up to Blackheath if you want the countryside/open space/villagey feel. Transport links are better too.
There are dodgy areas in Lee, as you say, however there are really beautiful parts too, especially as you start exploring the streets off the main roads either towards Blackheath or Hither Green. Obviously the closer you get to nice parts the more expensive the properties are but strike the right balance and you can often find some real hidden gems.0
