Although I said my screen was OK, it wasn't. I simply was frustrated with it.

ok. right click on your desktop, click properties and click on the settings tab. Click on the "screen resolution" arrow and move it until you get the right size for your screen. Hope this helps
which I did, several times, but the slider will only allow me to have settings of :-
1024 x 768 and this gives me a narrow quarter inch blueish bar along the bottom of the desktop and the setting of:-
1152 x 864 and this gives a one inch blue bar
there isn't an facility for compromise.This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Seems odd. You might be able to sort this by reinstalling or "rolling back" your graphics driver?
I presume from your post that all was ok the last time you used the PC?
It's possible that an automatic windows update has replaced your graphics driver.
If this is the case, you can try Rolling back the driver as follows;
Got to Start, click on Control Panel, click on 'System' then;
For Windows XP, click the 'Hardware' Tab, then click 'Device Manager'
For Vista / Windows 7 click 'Device Manager'
Expand the section 'Display Adapters' then double cick on the entry for your graphics card, a new window will open.
Then click on the 'Driver' Tab.
If the 'Roll Back Driver' button is greyed out, then you still have your original driver installed. If it isn't click on the button.
This should revert to the previous driver and may solve your problem, as the correct resolutions should be available.0 -
