Sunday a few weeks back, we noticed something burning, it turns out it was the wires burning in the mains system, but before we found out that, we turned the electric and everything else off.
We called British Gas, and they did send someone out to us, but they didnt seem to care we couldve died, instead they asked us to move our Electric and Gas over to them as we didnt have it with them.... LIKE WHAT???
Is it right that they can do that? even if you are going through a tromatic time? trust me it was tramatic to someone who has really bad OCD....
Anyways, the dude came out and told us what it was, but he couldnt do anything about it cause the black box thingy belonged to Western Power, (the BG dude said that when Western Power changed the main boxes, they shouldve changed the black box as well) so we called Western Power out....
They came out and they changed the box and said it wont happen again....
But I am worried, I dont want nothing to happen to my house cause of the family and animals.
But did British Gas have a right to do what they did over the phone? (we are with them for out boiler and thats it).
Sorry if this is in the wrong place.

Sounds like you got the wrong guy out, having said that once he noticed that it was your incomming supply needing a new cutout you'd think he would have made a call to the DNO to get it sorted out.0

Why did u call British Gas out in the first place for your meters if they aren't your supplier anyway ?
Nope the agent shouldn't have promoted but by the sounds of it you have more to worry about than a failed promotion.

Before I start - I work for British Gas
You called British Gas to request an electrician - they have no more responsibility for your wiring than any other electrician. They arranged to send an electrician out to you, and promoted another service from the company at the same time.
Not the most appropriate time to promote I agree -did they start doing this before or after arranging the call out? If it was after, then (it could be argued) that they had done everything you had asked them to do, they were not delaying the electrician reaching your house, so they offered it to you.
If you feel that the agent's manner was inappropriate, you can complain in writing, on the phone or through the website.0 -
Eh ? Why on earth did you phone BG about your electricity, why not the AA ?
They should be billing you for wasting their time0 -
We have insurance with them for flooding etc..... I dunno what its called.... what is the AA anyway? So we called BG, and they sent out an engirner, so how can it be wasting there time, if they were willing to do that?? We wasnt to know that BG dudes, cant touch the wires inside the house if it doesnt belong to them.... The BG dude explaned to us in a nice way what has happend and that its not his responsability, its the responsability of Western Power.
We didnt even know Western Power had wirings in the house, that doesnt belong to us, only them (so they said).
We are with BG for boiler and boiler only, and pay for some insurance or something or another, I dont deal with the BG or anything else for that matter, as my mum deals with it. But I was only asking a question.
Too SwanJon, I think it was after, though I am not 100% sure, sorry.0
