Easter in Scotland. Any late availability cottages there?

Hi. My husband is planning a trip to Scotland to celebrate Easter with our family. I haven’t been in that country at all (I am German originally), so I have no idea where to go and where is better to stay: hotel or in self catering cottages available for Easter? What about late availability cottages? Isn’t it too late to book a cottage in Scotland if we decide not to stay in the hotel? There are so many things to read about in internet but I better ask people who had an experience)).

Scotland is a fairly large place, do you have any preference as to where you'd like to visit? Are you looking for quiet countryside or prefer to be near a town?

    Just as an example ....http://www.unique-cottages.co.uk/specialoffers

  • I'm a husband too. Which is prolly why my wife plans our holidays.
We have a point share deal with Club laCosta which we can never use because my wife is a teacher and can only holiday during school holidays. Anyway club la costa have an operation called duchally. co. uk It is immaculate, but not cheap. They may try to sell you points ... don't buy until they change the law on maintenance charges.
Anyway, I didn't come on here to talk about holiday points.
I did come on here to share about a great scottish cottage booking site called cottages-and-castles .co .uk . My wife's sister-in-law (well she's mine too I suppose) is Scottish - and she said Cottages and Castles are owned by a very big estage agency and they really do know what they are doing.
Try it and see - let us know how you get on

We went to a village north of Inverness one Easter and had snow It was so cold we sat in bed in our hotel room! In view of this I would suggest that you pick somewhere further south, chose your loaction or general are first and then start doing a search

Or you could wear warmer clothes knowing what the weather in the North can be like! ;)Would you seriously advise someone against a destination where the scenery is absolutely stunning (especially in the snow) just because you didn't take the correct clothing on your trip.

Being from the North-West, I'm obviously biased but geez....no flipping wonder we all laugh when everyone panics at a teaspoon of snow down south:D

If your idea of fun is dithering all day and not being able to get around then fine jeer! I merely suggested that it is hard to see scenery through a blizzard. shame you couldn't offer some assistance instead of finding fault withother people's posts

Sorry, I didn't notice the bit about the blizzard in your original post

I just think that to advise someone against going to a place because you had a bad experience by not taking the correct clothing, is not really helpful. Some of the locations North of Inverness are fabulous and should be experienced.
As for assistance.....well, I can certainly help to an extent with where to go but not with accommodation as that's not something I know much about. I have family from the North Highlands to the Central region and between so I generally don't have to pay to stay anywhere.
If the OP can give us a little more information with regards to activities her family enjoys, or places she would like to visit, I'd be happy to try and help further:D

Unless Marlis, Just_jake and oooh, perhaps emiliah too have finished making my spam antennae twitch! Cynical, moi? :D
