I've never heard of a dormant account fee before. Anyone know how long the account has to be dormant before that kicks in? Pondering whether customers could argue it as an unfair contract term... hmmm.

As stated three times in this very thread - 6 months. What is unfair about it? If you don't want to be charged, either use the card or cancel it. Santander have no obligation to provide you with a credit card, for free, forever.

I'm not a customer thankfully (oh the rigmarole just to join and do them a favour) but just heard on Money Box that they have notified all customers of the right to introduce a fee for dormant (12months) curr/sav accounts if the holder wishes to reactivate the account. Nice of them.

15 years is the standard dormancy period, with no fee to reactivate accounts.

Which Money are also onto the case.

    Anybody been notified?

I have phoned them previously and they advised me that if I had a BT on the card that I was making payments on every month then the card is NOT dormant
