  • Thank you all, your ideas are inspirational.

Am avoiding balloons because at a recent family "do" the heliu balloons caused too many squabbles amongst the kids and were on the tables for all of about 1.4 seconds before being pilfered. Nice idea though; I do think they look good and break a big space up really well.

Now then.... I like the idea of the mirror plates (round) with a fishbowl on the top... and some tealights around and about.... but undecided about the contents of the fishbowl. Am wondering if water and a floaty candle is too many candles and not much colour... or maybe should do the water and a floaty flower thing. Do silk flowers float? Can you buy any silk flower and just chop the "tail" off?

But then and again, those hurricane lamps are nice too. Mirror plate, hurricane light, scattered petals and more tealights maybe?

Did you ask your venue to do all this setting up, or did you do it? I have to ask the venue to do it, and I'm worried they won't get it right. We are having the ceremony and party in the same room, so we clear out and they prep it up, so I have to bear in mind it has to be "instructions" that we give them?

fly dragon fly - your tables looked absolutely beautiful!!! Well done!!!

With the setting up I would take a photo of the finished result - if it's complicated to do you could even take photos of it the whole way through the instructions so they get it right but I think places are used to doing it.
    Bump due 22nd September
  • My sister in law to be is dressing the hall in the morning for us. Remember silk flowers may get wet in water - I am using crystal accents to avoid that problem with a floralyte (because venue does not want us having tealights).

Minxy, those centrepieces are lovely, I think the coloured water is a great idea.

MissyMoo, have you got a colour scheme? Or a budget?
  • sorry fly dragon fly, I was getting carried away! It was your ideas that got me thinking though, although I must give credit to you as that link is fab. I am sure my bits and bobs will come from there so thank you.

Minxy Bella - Tis your tables that are lovely - sorry! I am sure you were very pleased as they look so personal and pretty - jealous!

Lexxi - max budget £15 per table, but I would be happier with less than £10 per table - 8 tables total, no head table so all the same.

Colours - neutrals please - my dress is a dark ivory/creamy colour - chaps are having mushroomy coloured waistcoats & brown cravats (sounds rubbish; I hope not in real life) and my flowers will be creams, browns, pale naurals greens (ivy, lilies, etc)

Was thinking round mirror plate, round goldfish bowl, cream gravel, half filled with water then either floaty green candle or ivory gerbera (silk or real?), then brown/cream silk petals on the table (michael dark doe these) and dotted tealights.

2nd time married for me and everything was red, red, and more red before, so going super subtle this time?

    Ideas appreicated!!!

have you thought about pebbles instead of cream gravel that is rather pricey.

maybe something like this with a goldfish bowl instead?
