Patio cherry trees
I'm thinking of getting my wife a cherry tree as an anniversary present (4 years, combines fruit and flowers!), but was wondering how straightforward it would be to tend for one? How big would a "patio" one grow?
I've seen two possibles:
http://www.blackmoor.co.uk/product_info.php?products_id=592
http://the-plant-directory.co.uk/dwarf-patio-cherry-tree-sunburst-gisela-p-4018.html?zenid=21d489aec87d6d60127a3e5b4d625d04
Thanks in advance for any advice!

I've had some good deals recently from gardenbargains.com. I originally ordered from an ad. I saw in Gardeners World Maggie and got a 'Mini Orchard' Very reasonable and good healthy bareroot plants. The cherry is a Morello (a cooking cherry that isn't fussy about being in semi-shade) which does not require a pollinator. All other cherries (as far as I understand it) will require a nearby cherry, of a different variety, that flowers at the same as yours.
gardenbargains.com provide all the info you need. I hope this helps. Regards, Jean
PS I'm writing this on 17th March. If you haven't done it yet you'd better get your skates on because Mother Nature won't wait for you.0 -
The Blackmoor one sounds good, I have Sunburst from Blackmoor on Gisela 5 rootstock, bought last Nov, the guide says it will reach about 4m when full grown
Just wished the Sweet Cherry from Blackmoor was available when I bought Sunburst
I would get the Sweet Cherry from Blackmoor, from my experience the trees are top class, and you will not need to worry about pruning etc, and at a good height to net, which you will need to do or you will never, ever, get a cherry to eat because the birds get up well before you do
OH, just spotted, cheaper as well
No connection, except as customerEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0
