On the ford website you can enter your registration and it will give you model ,vin number spec, extras fitted you could try to see if vauxhall also do this on there website.0

Try entering the registration here http://www.webuyanycar.com/ and see what it identifies it as.
It could be a mistake on the database that insurance companies use but I think it wise to get this resolved.
Probably wise to do a HPI check anyway which costs about £20 and can be done in minutes online.0 -
stef73, could you give the link to the ford website where you can enter the reg and get more details? I can't see it anywhere and it would be useful for me too!
Thank you0 -
What kind of place is she buying it from and is it genuinely a new car or is it just new to her but second hand?
If you go to www.askmid.com and enter the registration number of her car, it does show you the make/model according to their database.
Edit: had this tab open too long before replying and didn't see the replies above0 -

Is it a grey import by any chance?0

Have you definatly got the right reg no? dealers register batches of cars so you might find that if you are a couple of digits out its still a vauxhall but a different model, as an example the car 10 digits above mine (591 rather than 581) is still the same make but a different model.I have a lot of problems with my neighbours, they hammer and bang on the walls sometimes until 2 or 3 in the morning - some nights I can hardly hear myself drilling0

thanks for your advice but on phoning her insurance company the quote has trippled now they know its a tigra not and astra so she won;t be buying after .I am journeying to a debt-free life.
