Faxing Australia

Hi, I not sure if this is the right board for this, but here goes.

I have a very important fax to send to Austrailia, in a hurry. It's basically to enable the purchase of an air ticket via a credit card. The travel agency have contacted me
that they need fax a s a p. The fax number they have given is as follow
(02) 8003 2875. My wife has attempted to send the fax using 0061 in front of that, the same as when I phoned them.

Would anyone know if their is a particular code for faxs to Aus. I would be very grateful for any help

Cheers

Did you put the fax number in as 0061280032875 (or 00610280032875 you need to drop the 0 of 02)

    (02) is the Sydney area code. As with any international call you must leave off the 0 (of 02) of the area code.

    006128003 2875

can;t you scan it and email it? will be much clearer than a fax? or even a clear mobile phone photo if its not very big?
  • My wife told me she had tried on variations of the code, but no joy. I'll get her to give
    0061280032875

    Thanks very much

JasX, my wife is going to scan and email it now. She'll all so try that fax number.
Unfortunately there is no one in their office (early hours) to confirm if a scanned email is satisfactory. We will try

    thanks a lot

Don't forget to insert the paper up-side down so they can read it OK in Australia

just make sure the scan is clear and get them to look at it before saying yay/nay if they're being awkward (I'd suggest colour, 300dpi and send as a .pdf if thats readily available). I've had someone insisting on a physical photocopy, 'need to see the signature clearly' type of thing... told them I'd send my scan anyway and see what they think..... called 5 mins later "yup, thats fine".

Probably not, what they want is the signature. A signed fax has a legal status that an emailed scan doesn't

Where on earth do people get utter garbage like that from? can you point me towards your source.

In the UK it has legal status, be it scanned, typed into an email etc etc its been confirmed in the High Court?

Is there something specific in Australian law you know of that bans them?

I also recall a separate case about a party not having the original doecument only an archived scan, that was upheld too but can't find a link right now.....
