Breakdown Recovery in Europe

Hi. Hope someone can help. does anyone have any useful information about best buys for breakdown recovery in Europe. My current provider doesn't cover Europe, so ought I to spend £30 - £40 to cover myself for the two weeks I'll be out of the country, or is there a reputable company which also covers Europe?

    Try https://www.morethan.co.uk

I've just tested my details as I need to get cover soon

Roadside Assistance, Recovery & Euro Assist £41.20
Roadside Assistance, Homecall, Recovery & Euro Assist £51.52

I've used them before - but never had to claim so can't comment on that aspect.

    Martin's advice is on: http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/cgi-bin/viewnews.cgi?newsid1094823518,14076,

Try https://www.sharpinsurance.co.uk - everyone I have recommended has been impressed. I should be on commission!

Thanks for this, highuyuk. I've noticed quite a few other folk recommending Sharp Insurance, too. Let's face it, they are offering a fantastic deal especially when you consider you get a whole year's breakdown cover while driving at home and in continental Europe for just £44.99. Compare that to a crazy £58.22 premium from the AA for just two weeks cover abroad, let alone their so-called Option 300 coming in at £100.13 for annual UK cover only. I took out a policy with Sharp today.

And another thing. Isn't this just a fantastic site?! I've found myself dipping into it more and more over the past two years, heeding the advice and timely tips. And now taken the plunge into the chat forum!

Hello :hello: and welcome to the site!
  • Hi,

If you take out cover with the environmental transport association https://www.eta.co.uk then you are also covered in europe. You even reverse the charges to them when you call them!

The great thing about the eta is that if you are introduced to them by a current member you get cover half price! And this works on any level of cover too. So all these others at £40 - £50 are double what the eta costs!
