Euro currency account for spendingt and receivingt Euros?

I need to receive cheques from France and keep the payments in Euros to spend in Europe using a debit card.
I have recently recovered from debt problems so my credit rating doesnt look too good at the moment. I made an arrangement with my creditors to pay around 70% of the amount to become debt free
Right now I have no debts at all and have a decent capital
I almost applied for one from Citibank but what worries me is if they refuse me after a credit check
I understand that too many credit checks can lower my credit score even more
Could anyone offer any suggestions.
A more understanding bank perhaps.

One (or even three) applications would not do any real harm.

Otherwise, see if someone like NatWest offers a Euro account.
