Do special offers really save you money?

i was in tesco last night, and they had an offer on 2 pack of 6 hot cross buns for £1.00

oo great i thought lovely toasted with lashing of butter..mmmmm

anyway back to topic..lol..

on the display there were also packs of 9 hot cross buns for 45p,

so 2 packs of these ( 18) are cheaper than the 2 packs of 6( 12)

so if you are tempted to have some hot cross buns to toast with loads of butter:D just watch out for the better value bigger packs, you get 6 more buns and they are 10p cheaper:money:

wasnt to sure to put this here on the shopping board or the grabbit board

Oh bums, I bought the 2 for £1 offer last week. Still, shoved them in the freezer as I'm the only one who eats them so they will last me ages.

Its really easy to fall for the 'special offer' trick, especially if you are in a hurry and spot it on the go.
Its the same with the different sized items, sometimes you think buying the bigger option will work out cheeper for the weight but sometimes it can work out more. Im always checking the price per Kg, or whatever the weight, on the ticket now.

BTW, don't rely on the price per 100g or whatever on the SEL - they don't always get it right!
  • The 9 for 45p offer is still on, we had mountains on sale today.

    Hi,

Just a note for anyone not able to find the 9 for 45p, I went in my local last yr for a similar/same offer and was told its only fresh baked, so if the store doesn't have a bakery then they don't have the offer.

Incidently my local has a huge bakery but no baker so no offer for us

Thanks OP, found them in my local store, Tower Park Poole (has bakery). So offer definitely still on.
