PPI reclaim company

Hi All,
This is my first post so please forgive if I am covering already chartered territory.
My mum has recently signed up to a company who will make a PPI claim on her behalf, taking a 25% of the claim if successful, there is no fee at any stage of the process, I'm just concerned that she's signed up to something which sounds too good to be true. Does anyone have any advice/experience relating to 'consumer money matters' who are 'agents' to the main company Key financial claims? Or companies in general offering the service for free and taking a percentage of the claim!!!
Help!?? and thanks

Hi and welcome
Personally I would not trust them, but there are many threads on here where lots have had problems with claims companies.
I would check the small prints and any paperwork your mum has and check to see if she can come out of this without any charge, you can reclaim by doing this all for free with help from this site, and of course your mum then if successful will receive all her ppi refund, and it will only cost the price of posting within a post office.
You could always find out more on them by contacting the Ministry of Justice (MOJ): these should be able to give details on the actual company.

If your mum wants to have a go herself with help from this site, make sure of any charges on the one she has signed up for just in case they do still try making a charge, but also check these guidelines out here as well:

And of course ask for help anytime.
Do check out the threads below on these as well, good luck.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"

Thanks so much, I'll do that, my instinct is not to trust them too. There's a cooling off period, but if she does change her mind after that then there is a charge, I guess my main (paranoid perhaps) concern is that the claims is a front and that they won't action anything but come back and say 'no claim here' - all the while my mum has approved them access to sensitive info which they can use for other sinsiter stuff, she's scanning the terms to me tomorrow along with details of exactly what she has granted them access to. Thanks again.0

Your welcome, and best to trust your instincts, good one.:T
I totally understand your concern here, I am wary of these companies now.
I would personally come out of it now for as soon as she can and please do feel free to post on here for help all FREE.:)The one and only "Dizzy Di"

i have dealt with some good claims companies in the past and a friend of mine managed to get 3 ppi refunds that she did not know she had through a claims management company. They are not all bad and 25% may be reasonable depending on the amount of chasing which needs doing.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. There is a lot of mistrust of one post new sign ups who promote the services of claims companies. We have had too many spams to the boards over the years form people linked to or working to claims companies promoting their services as if they were happy consumers.
Whilst there is no doubt there are a small number of good claims companies, there are significant numbers of bad ones that have done untold damage in reputation to the good ones.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). Hi Julia
I did not actually mean it to sound as if I was on about that actual company - as I have not heard of them before, but claims companies themselves, if you read some of the threads below you will note of the big problems of what many on here have been through, and of course its bound to put people off from going this direction.
I'm glad to say I came out if it when I did, and did not go any further, but you have your own experience with this stated company as you say and glad yours have been resolved for you, I feel for the ones that have been left in a rut.
Thank you for sharing your experience on this though. The one and only "Dizzy Di"

Don't bother with a claims company when you can do it all yourself. I did and three months later, I got back all of my PPI plus the 8% I asked for. Cost me a max of £18 for recorded delivery letters and a subject access request.
It's ironic the amount of threads that get posted saying how people who have used claims companies don't hear anything again after money has changed hands, yet the people who claim by themselves, seem to be more successful.
All the time you're watching your back, you can never look forward...0 -
Just look at the posts on this thread about claims companies. Your experience to me personally does not count. I would say to anybody interested do not go down this line. We have lots of people posting here first second time promoting their own claims companies. Do not go this route do it on your own and it will not cost you anything.:mad:0
