I have been to our small local Next today. I got a pair of linen trousers for £6.99 (were £24.99) and three tops at £5 each. The original prices for the tops were between £14.99 and £21.99). I could have got more but to be honest, I don't really need the tops I have got but they were such a good buy. I am VERY pleased.

I don't usually care for the Next sale as so much of the stuff seems to be brought in specially. This time however, I recognised plenty of the items from earlier this summer as being on sale in the normal shops.

A friend of a friend works for Next, and yes, they do buy stuff in specially for the sale.

I don't usually go to Next but thought I'd have a wander in yesterday. A cardigan caught my eye and I just had to treat myself, especially as it was down from £45  to £8! :D

If they buy stuff in especially for the sale are they acting legally? How can they say their "normal price" is X but the sale price is now only £Y when there is no normal price?

You can't buy stuff specially for sales and still put was and now price on.
You have to say it's a special purchase, managers special or similar.
In order to put a was price on you need to sell that item at the price indicated for 28 days or more.

I think in order to get round the legislation governing "sale" prices, there is a sign saying something along the lines that the goods have been on sale at the higher price in "x" amount of stores.

ec9wrr is quite right in saying items will often say special purchase of manager's special.

As I remarked previously, I did recognise much of the stuff in this Next sale as being regular merchandise. I was shopping in the high street in Macclesfield. This is only a very small shop but I was very satisfied with my purchases.

found some black trousers for teenage daughter for school at £3 each - outlet store bargin.

never been a next sale fan as I get fed up of the way they display the sale stuff -but have time to kill so decided to look through stuff.

sales assistant said they were having stuff delivered every day and will be for the next 2 weeks so worth keep checking back.
Thanks to everyone who posts comps :T

Regarding a few posts saying Next buy stuff in especially for the sale.

I just wanted to say I got heaps of Next Directory sale stuff delivered. Everything was in this seasons directory so obviously wasn't bought in especially for the sale. I also saw a lot of this stuff in the Next store when I went in.
