Auctioning myself for Charity?

Options
Hi,

I am raising money for CAMFED :j but instead of just asking people to donate, i was thinking of auctioning a dinner date with myself and/or a friend, most probably to people working in our office.

Have anyone done something similar before? Any tips/ideas?

Thanks!!!!!!
M

Wow that's an interesting one.......... how can you be so sure that people would be so keen to pay money to take you on a dinner date???

Unless of course you're something of an 'office celebrity' sounds like you're idea has got the potential to go very wrong and be potentially embarassing.

Fundraising is hard work and I've noticed that people mostly like to get something in return!

I've recently done a Cake Sale event at work. We managed to raise £553 in 4 hours! The cakes consisted of home baked ones as well as donated ones. I must say the home baked cakes sold in approximately an hour. I made 25 scones with clotted cream and jam (they didn't even cost that much to make) but they looked and tasted delicious being freshly baked and dusted with a bit of icing sugar I managed to get away selling them for £2 each!
  • We did the same at work, we had an afternoon tea to raise money for dementia, all the home made cakes did really well, the shop bought ones had to be sold for the straddlers at the end lol
I didnt put a price on, I asked for donations and found that we got more money than setting a set price previously.
    Hope it works out :)

This reminds of that episode of Green Wing where Dr Statham is bought for 50p at the charity auction!

I think it could be fraught with difficulty. Unless you are an 'office celebrity' or are hot stuff you might not get many bids. If you are sexy you might also not get any bids because people might be embarrassed to basically admit they fancy you. Bearing in mind they are going to have to pay for dinner as well it could turn out to be an expensive evening.

We have also had cake sales where I work and they are are always very popular. A couple of colleagues make craft items with their left-over craft materials (jewellery, lavender bags etc) and they are also good sellers. If you are attractive you could always put on your most sexy outfit and go round the offices encouraging people to buy your cakes!
