Hello All,,
I have just passed a telephone interview to work for a car insurance company and am set to go for an assesment day & interview in a weeks time...
I do not know where I stand should I get the job, I am currently BR due for automatic discharge in July, filled in an ED form beginning of Dec'...
Will insurance companies normally employ somebody who is BR, I am guessing that at some stage they are going to ask me?? Feeling a little unsure about it...
All advice appreciated...

Hi Newbie, I'm sorry I don't know the answer just bumping...."If wishes were horses, then beggars would ride"

hi, there really is no answer except to say, look at the terms of the contract carefully, if it doesnt ask you dont have to tell themHi, im Debtinfo, i am an ex insolvency examiner and over the years have personally dealt with thousands of bankruptcy cases.
Please note that any views i put forth are not those of my former employer The Insolvency Service and do not constitute professional advice, you should always seek professional advice before entering insolvency proceedings.0 -
hello,
thanks for the bump and replies...
They asked in the telephone interview if I had a criminal offence - no.. and if I had a civil judgement against me - I answered no as was not sure what a civil judgement was, I looked up what it is and I don't have one against me - but obviously BR is a little worse or is it??
I haven't technically lied yet, but feel I have withheld some information - just not sure what to do now,,,0 -
sorry, I have another question - i've just recieved an app' form to take with me to the interview, it says
"we will check your details with/against fraud prevention databases, should our investigation identify fraud or any criminal offence by you... we will record your details on fraud prevention databases"
It doesn't ask anywhere if I am or have been BR.... should I say nothing???
so worried now as really want & need this job..0 -

Sorry to be negative but I the answer is No, if I remember correctly its wrapped up with FSA compliance and being fit and proper -will stand corrected if I am wrong - if you have gone through an agency I would check with them or, if not, call the company's HR department directly. Better to find out now than get the job and then for it all to fall through.Louise0 -
just wanted to update here in case anyone else finds themselves in this situation, I told the company about my BR - they were fine about it - earlier this week I was offered the job...0

Hi there,
I work for an Insurance Broker and under FSA Compliance my employer had to prove that all of his employers were 'fit and proper'.
This was done by our employer doing a credit check on everyone in his employment.
I know there were a few members of staff that were not happy about it and they did look into it, but there wasnt anything they could do to object, so it was done.
Maybe google FSA compliance and employees and see what information you can get.
Hope that helps
Kind regards
