I would inform the seller of what has happened and await a response from TNT before going any further to be honest, It may just be a simple mistake that will sort itself out within a day or two.

I often sign for packages for my neighbour who is a postie and (obviously!) out at work when parcels arrive for him.

I will start to check after reading this what the delivery notes say. I don't know if he uses ebay, but having signed for 2 packages unwittingly is going to be a pig of a problem to sort out!

Does your neighbour know what exactly was on the form/screen that he signed? It should have stated the number of items being delivered. If it only stated one then it shouldn't be a problem claiming back from TNT, if it stated 2 then it is going to be tricky since there's no evidence the second parcel wasn't delivered.

Shocking thing I heard about TNT yesterday.

A friend of mine gets a call from someone called "Dodgy Rob" who works as a TNT driver. Dodgy Rob has a projector he doesnt want to deliver, wants £50 for it to "fall" from the back of the lorry and no more gets said.

Until the buyer of the item complains it didnt get received, and then TNT claim it back from insurance. Everyone is happy apart from the insurance company, and the buyer because they have had to wait longer than expected for their item.

And this goes on country-wide. I was shocked. Appalling isnt the word for it. And I did part a few words of advice onto my friend, for not only dealing with people like that, but to accept stolen goods.

Hence to say, I will NEVER use TNT again.

With regards to your specific problem, OP, I would get in touch with TNT again and state that one parcel is missing. Although this may be for the seller to do as it is their obligation, so let the seller know too :)

I would have though this would be quite difficult to get away with on a regular basis though, the parcels are generally scanned and tracked at every stage of the delivery, so the company would know the parcels were going missing between being loaded onto 'Dodgy Rob's' truck and delivery, during which time he has sole responsibility for them. Even if they couldn't prove he was stealing them, he'd still get the sack for incompetence.

    True, I would agree there.

I didnt go into detail with my friend, I was quite shocked that someone could get away with this though.

Except that everybody is not happy. The loser is likely not to be TNT's insurers, but the company sending the projector. Most couriers have a very basic compensation rate for lost items. The courier companies have a very low compensation rate for lost packages. Unless you use a premium service you will never receive the value of the contents of any box which is lost.
