Sowing Grass Seed

hi, im looking for some help with my grass. i am planning on starting afresh and sowing some new grass seed, but i have a few questions
whats a good value quick growing grass seed?
and how do i sow it, so as to get even coverage?
and whens the best time to do it?

About now is best time [or Easter] as the spring rains & hopefully sun will get it going

Grass seed comes in all sorts, do you want a bowling green or a rugby pitch for instance? So no "good value" can be offered, depends what you want

Sowing, just broadcast with a handful at a time, the birds will eat a third of it any way, and it will all knit together as it grows, any bare patches can be resown at any time with surplus seed

Lidl sells big boxes of vigorous grass seed for £6.99.

It's cheap, germinates well and grows quickly. However, the grass is a bit on the coarse side. And fast growing = lots of mowing.
