not paid for gas in 26months-never had a bill!

i had a issue with edf they did not bill me for my elec for 6 or 7 years
i phoned them EVERY 3 months asking for a bill and was told every time there had been a system error and they would send me the bill asap
after all this time i got a bill for 3500
i phoned them up and said i did not have that sort of money
without pushing anything the lady i talked to pointed out it was there mistake and that they would write some of the bill off after 2 weeks i got a letter saying they had taken 3300 off and could i pay 200 i agreed to this (i was very happy)
i gave them my card details and the payment failed there system would not let them take my money this went on for another 2 months in the end i had them fit a key meter and to my shock they wrote off all the debt and i stuck to a key meter from that day

while i know that some ppl have issues with them in my case they did every thing they could to help and it cost them 3500 in doing so

You won't be able to switch suppliers until you have cleared the current debt on your account.
EDF have messed this up badly, but if you read your bills in future and check your meter readings then you can avoid getting into this kind of situation.

thanks for the info on my account, i wasnt aware of that.

and to ROBCHAP, i am glad things worked out for you, there must be an error on their system. i have never had an issue with EDF before, and their prices are very reasonable to i would not even consider leaving if it wasnt for all this stress. its a shame
