Suddenly my computer will not allow any pop ups - including opening pages via Quidco. I have gone into tools and disabled the pop up blocker but it has made no difference. In the past I have had a tool bar which allowed me to temporarily allow pop ups but it does not come up anymore.
Any ideas anybody ???

Press CTRL when trying to open the popup. This should allow it.
As to why it's happening. I've no idea0 -
well that allows the page to open but the page comes up with an error message 'this page can not be dsiplayed' aaaaahhhhhh its driving me drazy. I have reset my Internet Explorer and removed all tool bars and addons. Just thinking that I had some problems earlier on in the week receiving e mails - they were being bounced back for no reason, wonder if it is my McAfee ? Official DFW Nerd Club Member #37 Debt free Feb 07 :cool:0

It could be McAfee. See if there's a "pop up blocker" in that. I had the same problem with Norton Internet Security. It had a "pop up blocker".
Just found this .... think you've tried this tough.
Mcafee Internet Security and Mcafee AntiSpyware
The pop-up blocker in use by most Mcafee programs can be bypassed by holding down the CTRL key and clicking on the link of the window you would like to pop-up
Also this (same thing) ...
I want to allow a popup window, but I do not want to disable McAfee Privacy Service
Some websites that require a popup window will display an 'object required' error message. This message can be avoided by disabling the popup blocker feature in Privacy Service. It can be temporarily disabled by holding down the CTRL key. This will override the popup blocker while opening new windows, participating in online chat rooms and any other Internet service that requires a popup window.0 -
thanks - have just had a chat session with a technician at McAfee. I disabled the privacty service and came up with the same problem so it cant be that
am now wondering if it is a problem with my internet provider

ah have just noticed an error message at the top of the page 'HTTP 500 server error' any ideas what that means ? Official DFW Nerd Club Member #37 Debt free Feb 07 :cool:0

HTTP 500 means there's a problem with the web site, specifically the web server on which the web site is hosted. It's not caused by a problem on your computer.0
