next time you visit tesco, buy three bottles of their vegatable oil (£1.44 for three litres) and pour straight into your half full tank then top up with diesel.
in fact, this hot weather your car will run on a 50-50 mix of diesel and oil.

It's not quite that simple i'm afraid. There are tax issues associated with running cars on cooking oil not to mention whether the cooking oil will do your engine much good over time.
quick google (as i can't remember the details of other webpages full of info on this subject) gave me this http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/wales/2312521.stm
Not the best link but you get the point!
Edited to add: in fact, if you search for this stuff on the MSE forums you'll find plenty of info as well.0 -
Hi rogerbanana,
Welcome to MSE
I have moved your thread over to the motoring board where you should get more replies. There are a couple of older threads that might interest you:

Vegetable Oil combined with diesel?

I saw this and I was quite worried that people would blindly do what is suggested by the OP. My diesel car specifically says not be run on Biodiesel on the filler and I assume that includes Tesco cooking oil.0

i run my new car on a mix of oil and diesel, and it runs a treat and whats more it meets the requirements of the manufacturers (see your handbook) and the tax issues are that you SHOULD pay 21p per litre tax.
if you want ,contact the customs and excise and tell them what you are doing and they will provide you with the form in which to fill in to pay .the best bit is that you tell them how much you put in last month and send them the money....
half the taxis in my town do just that.good job they are honest about consumption.0 -

I can see why you did this but we're in strict contravention of forum rules here. Sorry to be a spoilsport but it's obvious that the OP was advocating an illegal practice and Martin has asked us not to discuss such areas here. Can I help?0 -
Most of the stuff I have read about cooking oil & diesel engines say that you should not just stick the oil in your tank, it needs to be warmed slightly before entering the engine, otherwise serious engine damage/failiure may occur.0

Is that true? Using it isn't illegal, not declaring it is....
If the oil plus the tax is cheaper, then the OP is still right. (Albeit that he needed enlightening)
Not that I'm looking for a fight....0 -
Hi,
Watch out..... Something like a 1.6 TDCI Ford or 1.6 HDI Peugeot will run on the stuff. However you will get a bill upwards of £2k for a new fuel pump. The seals will suffer damage, and you will void any warranty...
Best Regards
Baz.
