Car insurance £225 increase!

Last year paid £325 for fully comp for the year, 8 years no claim bonus, held liscense for 12 years.

This year my renewal letter said £550! This didn't surprise me as every year my current insurer will try it on with a hiked price.

The concern arose after i'd been on confused.com, compare the meerkat, money supermarket, direct line, aviva, tesco compare - you name it i've had the quote.

Best i've got so far is £490 from hastings and then use quidco for £60 cashback but even so its a steep increase from last year.

The insurance company told me the hike was due to all the uninsured drivers on the road, 2010 must have seen a massive influx of uninsured drivers to to justify these increases :rotfl:

  • ClaimsRus types and accident scammers and those who decide a 3 series BMW 'courtesy car' to be their right via claims handling companies don't help either, plus there's been hundreds of accidents due to peoples inability to control their cars on anything other than bone dry surfaces.
We all pay unfortunately, same as taxation those that pay the most seldom get anything back.

Many of us have seen huge increases in premiums this year, taxed of course.

Mine seems to have gone up aswell (doubled to be precise - from same insurer), even though I have +1 NCD over last year.
  • Mine went up by nearly £100, used comparison websites to get it cheaper but still paid about the same as last year

we're up to 10 years "no claims", I think bar the first couple of years the price has pretty much stagnated over the remaining years bar the cashback on offer. The insurer prices fluctuate but there always tends to be one offering c. £350 for it regardless of any other changes we make on policy.

Top quote 2001 car worth £3000 (sport model possibly increases insurance?)
Middle quote 2003 car worth £5500
Bottom quote 2001 car worth £3000 from last year

Insurance companies must be raking in the profits this year

A major reason is due to the reduction in value of their investments

Mine went up to. When I got the renewal I did the price comparison sites and they were all more expensive than my renewal.

I'm with Lloyds, they have been cheap for me compared to everyone else.

Might want to give them ago.
