Spell check not working in word

My spell check has stopped working in my word docs and I don't know how to fix it, It's been fine until recently my wife and daughter used my laptop to type a document.
They obviously deny touching or changing anything but I can't think what else it could be.
I can type any random text in and when clicking the abc spell check tab it just says "the spelling and grammar check is complete"

Any ideas?

If you are using Word 2007, try selecting the 'review' tab and then click 'Set Language' and ensure 'English (United Kingdom)' is ticked i.e has a blue tick with abc across it, and that 'Do not check spelling or grammar' is unticked

Did you check in 'Word options' /'Proofing' - that 'check spelling as you type' is ticked ?

If the above option didn't work for you then try the following

1.On the ‘Home’ tab, in the document ‘Styles’ section, right click on the highlighted style (this is the style your document is using)
    2.Choose ‘Modify’
3.A new screen should appear, at the bottom-left of this screen click ‘Format’ and choose ‘Language’
4.UNCHECK the ‘Do not check spelling or grammar’ if it is checked
    5.Click Okay
6.Now, be sure to apply this to ‘All new documents based on this template/ '
    7.Click OK

Another reason for spell check to stop working is if it mal-functioned.
You can check if word has disabled the spell checker by going to
    The word button (top left)
    Select 'word options'
    then select 'Add-Ins'
Then in the drop down box next to 'Manage' select 'Disabled' and click the 'Go' button beside it - If spell ckecker is here, select and click 'enable'. If this has occured then an unknown problem caused spell checker to crash.

    This worked a treat

Only a small problem I know but it was really annoying me.
