My landlord has not protected my deposit

Im looking to move out soon and while looking at a list of rental propertys, i started reading about deposit protection and im pretty sure mine wasnt protected. Ive never received anything in writting from any scheme and so today i called the Deposit Protection Service they said im not registered with them and i tried checking on the Tenancy Deposit Solutions website im not with them then finnaly the tennancy deposit scheme and im not with them. I started renting the property on March 23rd 2009. My question is what do i do about it? I read that you can get 3 months rent or something is this right? so basically where do i go from here....?
Thanks
Thanks

You could take the landlord to the small claims court, but the general consensus is you will not win if your landlord lodges the deposit before the court case. Write to the landlord and ask which of the three schemes your deposit is lodged in - hopefully that will push him into lodging the deposit and so you are protected.Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0

Oh ok i didnt know that, im sure i read that the landlord has to protect your deposit within 14 days of the tenancy agreement its nearly a year now or have i misread that?

You are correct, but the reality is that your landlord is very unlikely to be fined if he has protected the deposit by the time the case gets to court.Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0
