I was turned down when I initially applied, requested an appeal (but they first put it through a reconsideration I believe even if you ask for tribunal hearing). Was awarded LRC & LRM at reconsideration, but have now been advised to appeal on that decision.0

I claimed DLA for my youngest son in 2008, we was awarded HRC LRM within 3 weeks of applying. I does vary with how long, what the problems are etc. I have known parents with children who need more care than my son being turned down first time, yet my God-daughter had minimal hearing loss (which has now righted itself) and dyslexia, yet was awarded the same rates as my son who is Autistic and needs lots of extra care and supervision. Makes very little sense to me, did you get help completing the forms?Tomorrow is always fresh, with no mistakes in it!0

I have Autistic Spectrum Disorders. I applied for DLA (with help from the charity DIAL). I was refused. I asked for a reconsideration, and they refused me after this too. DIAL helped me through the tribunal process and I was awarded Lower Rate Mobility and Lower Rate Care, both are indefinite awards.
The apeal/tribunal process can be difficult, and I would always advise getting help.0 -
I claimed DLA for my son - he has been on HRC since he was three months and HRM since he was three years old. He is now almost twelve and when he was eight, he was awarded an indefinate award.0

I got told that many people are turned down at the first attempt and are usually given it after an appeal.
I am currently trying to get MRC and have been for the last year - but am constantly being told I can do things that I can't.Sealed pot challenge #232. Gold stars from Sue-UU - :staradmin :staradmin £75.29 banked

I applied for my son and it took only 22days for them to process the claim.
He was awarded HRC & LRM for 2 years.
I filled out the forms and put endless amounts of detail. I also enclosed reports from physio, Occupational Therapy & Consultants.
I was very suprised at how fast it came back.
Myself on the otherhand sent the forms in at the same time and am yet to hear of a decision.0
