Lightening has messed up my wireless router, need help!

Options
Sorry in advance for the long post.

I have a Linksys wireless g adsl gateway router connected to my computer and two other computers with wireless cards that link to it.

I don't have a surge protector and a few nights back, we had a lightening storm and the electricity went off while the computer and router were connected.

Everything seemed to be working fine when I turned it back on but I couldn't access the internet from my router as it kept saying a cable was unplugged. I later found out my onboard lan was dead so fitted another lan card in a pci slot

I also thought the ethernet cable might have been zapped but I have replaced it and still nada.

My sons computer connected to the router with excellent signal strength but still no internet access.

I had to resort back to my usb modem to get on the internet but the strange thing was that my daughter has internet access via her wireless connection even though the phone line is plugged into the usb modem and not the router although my son has no internet on his computer.

When I try to go to the 192.168 page to set it up again ( although I don't know if it needs it, or even what to look for), it won't display at all. never dial a connection is ticked in internet options.

Can anyone give me any ideas what might have gone wrong with it? and how to get back onto the internet wirelessly?

Thank you in advance for any help you might be able to give me.

There should be a pin sized hole on the router. This is the hard reset button. Pressing it with a paper clip or something with reset the router to its factory setup. This is what i would do, bearing in mind you will lose all your router settings. From my experience with my last router and lightening though it sounds like it may be dead, sorry.

Unfortunately Lightning + Router = Time to think of buying a new one :)

Are the two wireless computers definately connecting to your router and not one of your neighbours' insecure ones?

If it is yours, then that obviously prooves that the router itself actually works.

Try connecting one of your other PCs to the router using the Ethernet cable and see if you can access the internet. You will obviously need to disable the wireless networking on the PC so that it isn't getting the internet wirelessly.
