But where is any comeback if you send a cheque or a postal order ? ? ? ?

Cheques can be reversed from accounts even after 'cleared for funds'. So not good for a seller. I don't like cheques as people take an age to send them and then want the item posted immediately. I do usually post as soon as i get a cheque but for larger ones I wait a few days and believe me people will start chasing you for delivery the day after they post the cheque, even if you haven't got the cheque yet.

Postal orders I've stopped taking as so many went astray in the post. People send them uncrossed and without understanding the receipt part and when they go missing expect the item to be sent anyway.

Bank transfers arrive on about working day 3 and are cleared for funds instantly.

I know which id prefer. Cheques are so much hassle. You have to wait for the sender to post it, then you have to go out of your way to get to the bank, then wait for it to clear before then posting the item. At least with a postal order you can cash it at the same time as posting the item, and PayPal/Bank Transfers can be instant.
