Isn't there something somewhat ironic about holding a big show which requires people to travel and use energy, in order to demonstrate green technology!

  • Sorry I don't know very much about forum etiquette, but I thought spamming was when you repeatedly post the same information? I have only posted information about the event in the threads that I thought it belonged in and I have only done it once. Sorry if I have somehow broken the spam rule that was not my intention.
    And
People will travel and use energy anyway. So isn't it better that people travel to an event that may help them in the future to live in a more green and sustainable way?
We try to run the show in the most sustainable way possible, our venue, the Olympia 2 London, has won awards for its efforts in event sustainability. Everyone associated with the show is committed sustainability. Really we are trying to do something positive, not sinister.

Firstly the site clearly states that you aren't to post links for personal gain - now you haven't posted a link because as a new poster you can't but surely its not that hard to realise that promoting your own events isn't on!

Secondly its not clear who you are or who UK Aware is - it doesn't appear to be a charitable organisation so presumably its just another promotions company that happens to have a market niche in the green hype.

Thirdly - is there any connection between your post and the ticket network system on the website which gets people £1.50 and allows people to buy tickets from ticket network members for £6. Given that there isn't anywhere on the actual website that mentions buying for £6 its not unreasonable to question whether you are in fact trying to drum up a load of £1.50's for yourself.

This is described as a consumer revenge site - come on here selling something and expect to need to have your ducks in a row!

As for the London thing - I'm not going to pay £50 in travel to see an overhyped show full of green bling. I have some real questions I need answers to but I want them from local sustainable suppliers in a sustainable local forum, not some marketing company hyped green version of the ideal home show.

  • Sorry that you feel that what we are doing is just green hype. We just wanted to offer cheap tickets to moneysavingexpert members.
We are a very small organisation working form a garden shed. We are not a charity (yet) but a social enterprise. However, all profits from ticket sales go to our charity partner Global Action Plan. There is more information on our website.
