Error Message Microsoft Word 2003

Please be gentle with me, I am not a techie. At work we are running Windows XP Professional. I have just had to show a colleague (who has never used Word before) how to produce a Word document. On opening and closing Microsoft Office Word there is an error message on his screen, under the banner Microsoft Visual Basic -Compile error in hidden module: Autoexec.
Can anybody tell me what it means and how easily is it dealt with?
Many thanks in advance.

Looks like it may be caused by Acrobat.

I think I'm going to disappoint you. The start up folder is empty so I assume it's something to do with Norton Anti Virus software? I don't want to meddle with that as our PC's are connected to a server at work and I'm not authorised to "mess". The person who deals with computer issues here is not interested in solving this minor problem as it doesn't affect her
I guess my colleague will just have to live with it. Thanks anyway. 0 -
Sorry I couldn't help

Doesn't sound like your IT support is up to much.

Well, I think I made our IT person feel a bit guilty. After seeing me to-ing and fro-ing between my PC and my colleague's PC, she finally condescended to sort it out (I think she was worried that I might have succeeded :rotfl:
Anyhow, many thanks for your replies and help. It's good to know that people like me (techno-phobes) can get help here.0 -
What was the fix?

"KNOWLEDGE IS POWER" If you share it then someone knows as much as you. 'Nuff said I think.
Anyway, from the vague response that I got I think it was something to do with the pdfmaker file??? I'm afraid computer speak is double dutch to me most of the time.0
