Where to get Microsoft Word?

Hello

Just after some advice on where I can get Word from? I got a laptop for Xmas and it has Windows Vista on it, with Word Processor.

I'd like to get Word on it as it makes opening attachments/sending CVs off difficult.
Any one know where I can buy it from?

thanks!

if you want office i believe the beta of 2010 is out now and free for the next 180 days (may need to double check) failing that buy it, or download open office, yes it does support microsoft word .doc formatted files but sometimes the formatting is off. but hey, for the cost of £50 something, you can give oo a go.
  • woop!I'll have a go x thanks guys

    You have a few options:

Open Office: Totally free and legal, very very similar to Microsoft Office, and you can save anything you do in the word processor as a MS Word .doc if you want, or even better for CV's etc, you can save as a .pdf

MS Office: The Student editions are cheaper as mentioned above, if you meet the criteria for that, but still cost a bit...

MS Works: This usually comes free with a new PC, but if you take a look on eBay, lots of these for sale for about a tenner, and this feature a pretty bog standard database, bog standard spread sheet, but some version come with MS Word 2003, check the descriptions. If that is all you are interested in, then maybe do this.

MS Word: As above, scower eBay for someone selling just MS Word, I would recommend any version since Word 2000. So 2000, XP, 2003, they are all very similar, and as long as it has the key etc it is legal.

You can buy a boxed or licensed version.

You could also look at Abiword, it's compatible with Word (though not 100% sure if it handles the new DOCX format), it's free and it's good if you just want a word processor rather than a full Office Suite.
