I've just received this email and it appears I've suddenly become very rich. What should I do with all the money? Help me Martin, please.

its probably a scam but email him- that won't cost you. I bet some of the time we really have won and we bin them thinking their rubbish

Of course this one is a scam it is a 'famous' one even BBC Watchdog have carried reports about it.

I love the idea that they think we are dim enough to believe we have won a lottery without even entering it...although according to Wathdog some people, usually the frail or the elderly who are confused have fallen for it unfortunately.

I took the OP to be rather tongue in cheek especially as it is posted on the warnings and rip off board.

yer he was, but that euromillions email thing im sure i have done when joining sum site, probably sumin useless like urfreesim.com. They sign you up to things automatically. So yes many people may well've signed up. And its fantastic you feel it nesesary to make me seem like a right idiot, just coz i don't watch watchdog very often and aren't aware of the latest comings and goings concerning it. Im one of the idiots who replies to these emails, i sign up for so much rubbish, i assume their always legit

Laura, I'm sorry if you thought I was getting at you in my post.

I really can't stress enough though that people do get caught all the time by these scams and they will only work while people continue to fall for them. I only mentioned Watchdog because that is fairly mainstream, these scams are mentioned everywhere and I assumed that all MSE'ers would be aware of them purely because we are on the net.

Can I suggest you do a Google search as variations on this scam are discussed at some length over several thousand web sites. This is the 2nd one that came up on a Google:

Another site I really recommend is http://www.snopes.com/ . That one is especially good not only for scams but for the urban myth type email circulars. I sometimes do randon searches through snopes though as it is quite fascinating!
