No more venturing out of the DFW Board for me....its scary out there!!

There are some boards I just wouldn't start a thread on, the benefits board for one, I think some of the posters on that board can be rude and unhelpful, and the DT board just frightens me, most of them are too intelligent for my simple mind, my mind boogles on that board, but that's not difficult.
You will always receive a warm welcome on the DFW board, and another board I have always found very helpful and friendly is the Old Style Board, the OS'ers will help you meal plan, give advice on a carpet stain, or get tips on how to save some pennies.0 -
I agree with you Washer , the Old Style peeps are super. What never ceases to amaze me though is how much time and effort people will make in helping others. Whether it be advising on budgets, posting bargains or just encouraging others when they are low. I think that this site has done more for peoples general welfare than any other place I know. Its about time Martin got some sort of award from this Government.Find out who you are and do that on purpose (thanks to Owain Wyn Jones quoting Dolly Parton)0

I go on a lot of the different boards, sometimes people can be a little blunt, I do find all the knowledge very interesting, I try to store it up in case I need it, I have learnt so much. some of the "characters" opinions at times can be extreme, but everyone is entitled to their opinion.Debt Free Dec 2009non-smoker 19th Nov 2010Trying to lose weight 40lb/42lb

Don't worry - Constructive criticism is one thing, but I got completely flamed after mistakenly posting up my SOA over on another board. Two years on I've picked up the courage to come back and post here again....with a new name :rotfl: There are some great people who post here with fantastic help and advice and then you get the sad trolls and ghouls with nothing better to do than feed off other people's misfortune.Debt Free Day - November 1st 2011 - would be a fantastic Christmas that year ((Fingers crossed I can do it)):D
If we all stood together and threw our problems up in the air - we would rather catch our own again than somebody elses :A0 -
I suppose if my situation makes someone feel better about themselves then I should view that as a positive :j:D
Think I need thicker skin :rotfl:0 -

One of the great things about this board is the way it works both ways. The poster gets help and support, which they need because they may be feeling a bit battered. The people responding generally recognise that some people coming for help are in quite a fragile place and try to be positive and supportive.
Occasionally it won't work like that, like when someone's asking about how they can run away to Australia and leave their debts. But as a general rule we are not here to judge.

Sorry, the other way is that it feels good to help. I think a lot of people on here with debt problems also have self esteem problems. Helping others, particularly with good advice, gives you a bit of your self esteem and pride back.
