If you're a student- sorry, know nothing about you!- then you should be able to get Dragon as part of your DSA. If not, then I've heard good things about it from people who've got it through DSA..

I'm sure there's somewhere where you can try the software before buying it - I recommend doing this.

  • I like it - I write a lot when working from home, and I find it less work with Dragon - however, you do have to 'train' it to recognise your voice, by going through some 'reading out loud' exercises, and it still 'mishears' a few words which you then need to amend - however, I still find it easier and quicker than typing by hand!
  • Must admit I bought it and have never used it so I'd be interested to know too.

There was a thread somewhere about a site that had it cheap! So try searching before buying it.

I have it, and I love it. It takes a while to get used to it, and you need to spend some time training it. But it's incredible how much you can actually get it to do.

Do you work? If so access to work can help with the cost of this.
As for trying it out phone any disability/carers centres near you they may have it or know where you can try it.

I get about a 90-95% accuracy when using it, and given I've been dictating song lyrics and philosophy terms, that's not bad.

The only thing is, don't change what it mis-spells imidiately or you loose your flow. Speak in complete secentences, as part of what it does is guess words from context, and program in your special or hard to say words - like Nietzsche, all I have to say is 'n' in a scentence like 'N then considered the effect of alcohol on the Will to Power.' By the time I get to the end of the sentence it's capitalised will to power and changed N to Nietzsche.

It's amazing how those with a can-do attitude and willingness to 'pitch in and work' get all the luck, isn't it?

My husband has recently bought it.

Finds it better to use the dragons won note pad thingy.

Also Amazon had it for £29.99 over the weekend  paid £43 a couple of weeks ago.

    he loves it.

    Yours
