Separate legal cover

I have just renewed my car insurance but haven't taken out legal cover as it was more than I wanted to pay for it. Can I buy legal cover separately and if so where from and how much does it cost?

It's almost certainly not going to be worth the time, effort, and hassle of outsourcing it somewhere else - that's even if you could manage to actually save any money buying it elsewhere.
Probably best if you bite the bullet, ring your insurer, and get them to add it back on.0 -
It's not easy to get.
I have an "all in" policy that covers my home, car and bikes for £12, but it's not widely available, so you either need to
1) purchase it from your insurer
2) get your IFA to arrange an "all in" policy when you transact some other business with them.
3) Don't take it and go "no win no fee".
Personally I think it's worth having.0 -
Where do you get insurance for £12!0

From an advisor who was willing to do it as a "loss leader".
Unfortunately it didn't work out so he's not now offering it, so I can't pass it on, although I have passed on the tip many times to money savers when it was available.0 -
If you have legal cover on your house insurance you will possibly find it also covers motoring or Mark Thomson Law runs a service called Law Key which offers free legal cover for motorists."The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, but wiser people so full of doubts."

I have always found my house insurance policies specifically exclude "an accident whilst being a passenger or driver of a motor vehicle".
My own interpretation of this is that is does not exclude being a pedestrian, horse rider or cyclist in a motoring accident.
But as always you need to check your own policy.0 -
Having read all the above posts, I am still uncertain whether I should buy legal cover as part of my car insurance? It's so expensive. Can anybody advise please? My cover runs out on Friday.0

How much is it?0

It's normally anything between £20 and £30 for a year, which I don't thikn is expensive for say £50K legal fees.
How much are they trying to charge you?
There is one here that is £9.99 but I have no idea how good it is. but there are options available.

How little exactly are you expecting to pay for cover for £50K worth of legal fees?
If you're really skint then go without it and if something happens then go "no win no fee".
Personally I'd rather have insurance, but if you really are short of a tenner then it's something you can economise on.0 -
RAC sell it for £20
