After being in so much debt I feel I can see light at the end of the tunnel, not long now huh?

I feel so so great....it really cheered me up to get my statements today.

If anyone wants any advice I'm happy to help....

    Yay! Well done!

I love getting my bank statements too - is that kind of wrong?

Don't know about anyone else but I believe I've turned my corner and although I can't see the light yet I know it's there. I think debt busting is so daunting and part of the healing process is learning to love your statements and look forward to them dropping through your letterbox, rather than dreading them.

I reckon once you start to love your statements you're on the homeward run regardless of how long that journey will take.

    Well done! :j

I'm probably about a year behind you - looking forward to cracking the 10k barrier in Jan 11. Will be under £15k in May 10 though.

I'm enjoying getting my CC statements already. Makes such a difference when you see the balance decreasing...

You'll be there before you know it :D

    Hi Angeladiva,

Congrats on getting your debt down to 4 figures instead of 5 thats a fabulous acheivement!! I'm hoping to be in the same position within the next 3 or 4 months, and can't wait.

How did you get there, have you been doing anything additional to up you income? I'd love to hear any suggestions you have incase there's anything I've not been doing that will help!

So far, I have been ebaying anything that isn't bolted down (:rotfl:) use Quidco for all online purchases, sold a few old mobiles I've found lying around, signed up to a few survey sites, done bits and pieces of overtime when I've had time - I think thats it!

Keep up your good work, and congrats again! :T

    Thank you so much!!

When I started I used to do everything that was going to up my income and also sold everything that wasn’t needed. But when all that ran out I found I was spending my life online and for me the amount of effort it took to keep up with all these schemes and plans wasn’t worth the £1 or £0.50 extra I made

So I stopped stressing myself and decided to live my life, I got a better job and then set up a regular payment with payplan and just watched the debts going down..

I still have holidays and treats and to be honest if I didn’t do that I would probably be debt free a lot quicker. However getting out of debt when you have anything over £20k is a long road and can be a huge chunk of your life. We were not put on this earth to live off excel spreadsheets. So my advice is once you have sold all your stuff and had fun on various websites get comfortable with your debt and watch it moving slowly down…..

    Spring is here...
