Hi can anyone advise on cheapest broadband in N.Ireland? We are with Tiscali (talk talk) and don't believe we are getting good value.

    O2!!
I've had BT BBand before here in the Dee & the service was appaling.I've been using O2 since October & not had any problems at all! Consistantly fast speeds (6.5Mb) & it was up & running seven days after ordering. And because I'm an O2 customer,I get it for £7.50 a month!
  • O2 would have been great as I'm with them for my iphone but unfortunately we are outside their area of coverage and can only offer us their 'access' package which is £17.50 monthly with the discount :( Anyone else any suggestions? Anyone with Plusnet?

    Hi,
I'm with plusnet and have been for about 5 years now. I would heartily recommend them. Never had a problem with connection or speed. I live in Killyleagh, so not a major hub. Only times I've ever rung them was to find out information, and never had any difficulties getting through to them, nor getting the information I've wanted.

RTE's player online requires an address in Ireland or the north. Had to email plusnet to get them to contact RTE to say I lived in the north (see RTE player FAQ). Plusnet replied well within 24 hours to me to say they had done so, though it might take RTE 6 weeks I think to register me. (it didnt take that long). Anyway, was suitably impressed by plusnet on this matter - quickness and contact with me, (not that there is anything on RTE player....)

I have some friends on plusnet's home phone + internet package and no complaints (that I've heard anyway) there either.

    Hi,

Yes I'm with Plusnet too on there Value package (11.99 a month for me after the first 3 months) and have no major complaints - it does what it says on the tin and Plusnet are very open about their traffic shaping policy (on their website).
    Regards, Robin.

I get my PlusNet for £5.99 per month with 10GB download allowance. Free between midnight and 8am. I am on a Market 3 Exchange. Dearer if you are on a smaller Exchange. Has been reliable for 4-5 years now. For each new customer you introduce they will discount your bill by 25 pence each month. Not a huge amount but it indicates that they are very fair and reasonable with their customers.

Sky do fantastic Broadband Deals, where you get it free if you have the full package, the free broadband is upto 2MB/sec ....or for £4.99 a month you get upto 8MB/sec, which I have found very reliable over the past 2 years.

I never have any downtime or any problems downloading etc.

    Hope this helps

I can second Sky as well. My folks originally had Virgin which when the line speed was upgraded caused no end of signal loss and slow download speeds. When I got married my DH got a Sky package (TV, phone and broadband) and it was costing us less than having BT, Sky TV and whoever our BB provider was. My folks have since got the full Sky package as well and apart from one incident where there was an outage at the exchange we've had no problems.

You should check out Virgin Media! They only serve certain areas though! But we have our telephone, broadband and tv XL package with them, all for £40 a month! The broadband is fast and we have only ever had 2 outages in the area! Worth checking out! Hope this helps!
