WTM why bother answering with something like that???? obviously you are perfect, no one is denying he did wrong in the eyes of the law but he does have learning disabilities and his mum and dad are supportive of him to keep his independance, as i have already stated the lads dad has indeed paid the fine today because he did NOT read the policy properly, so please dont comment unless its not constructive.

I would be careful with the DVLA on this one as they may class certain learning difficulties as a bar to UNDERSTANDING what is required to drive/ride, therefore affecting their ability to operate a vehicle safely, and revoke the licence, because they can be an over officious inefficient shower. If the plea was guilty, then only the sentence can be appealed, unless the insurance was still valid for whatever reason imho.
  • That bit is actually ok its more on the reading and writing and the understanding of things, he has no problem with riding and understanding the roads signs and he has had a bike for quite a while now, but yes i see where your coming from thanks

You just have to dot the i's and cross the t's with that shower known as the DVLA, as they are a penalty (read cash greedy) hungry bunch.

In the case of the OP her nephew has learning difficulties such that he relies on his dad to look after the paperwork so I’d say child is an appropriate description[/FONT]
Not in the eyes of the law, hence my point.

Well it's time your child became an adult - must be some inbreeding going on in that family.

The grace period has been abolished to help ANPR cameras to catch uninsured motorists since 2005, as how could the database work if grace periods of various duration existed?:

Days of Grace no longer exist and as such do not show on the MID

Sorry to bump this old thread, but I have just received my insurance renewal reminder, and it clearly states contrary to many posts on here that I do have a 12-day grace period, so this practice hasn't been abolished at all. It covers me for the minimum required under law for 12 days after my expiry date, as long as payment is received any time within the 12 days, so if I get caught with an expired cirtificate on the 7th day and pay on the 10th, I am still covered (third party only - but still covered). I hope the OP did check whether she had the same on her policy.
