After installing the .net framework update last week I keep getting this message when I start the PC up.
'The system could not log you on. Make sure your User name and domain are correct, then type your password again'
I've never had a password and there's always only been one user on the PC. I tried using TweakUI and set it to auto logon but it works for like two days, then I get this again.
Anyone got any suggestions, it's starting to drive me mad.
Thanks

do you want it to autologon (without a password), if not set AutoAdminLogon to 0 in the registry
if you do (which is a security risk), then make sure your defaultusername and defaultpassword are correct in the registry

Thanks for the reply.
Before I installed the update I'd switch my PC on and it'd just start up, no clicking user names or putting in passwords. I'd like it to go back to that, instead I'm getting the above error.
The default user is correct in the registry (I'm assuming that AltDefaultUserName is what I'm looking for) and I've never had a password as nobody else uses the pc.
What type of security risk is it?Sigless0 -
The security risk is that is puts your username and password in the registry, a piece of malware could easily lift that info.
If you have an accountname and password, they are normally stored in the defaultusername and defaultpassword rather than alt......
As it stands at the moment, are you having to type in a username and password to get in, if so, make a system restore point, and right click on the alt.... and rename it to defaultusername defaultpassword. (take off the alt's), make sure you know the username and password in case this goes wrong..Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0 -
No, I'm not having to type anything.
The error message comes up, i hit enter then the welcome screen comes up with my name and I just have to click it. I've never had a password.Sigless0 -
