Lead pencil would work and a great MSE idea. Not too sure if araldite would blend in and it is not the easiest material to get an even finish with. You might want to try a test to see if you will be happy with the results.

If it were me, I would get a small tub of pre-mixed coloured grout or filler. You can buy pots of colouring to add to the grout to make it any colour you like.

You might want to consider using caulk. The stuff decorators use to fill cracks and holes in plaster. This comes in various colours including grey.

I will look into those possibilities too. Thank you.

Caulk looks like a good idea. Would be waterproof certainly.
I would be happy to get a wee pot of grey grout to try first, but can't find it online anywhere. Does anyone know if the likes of B&Q or Wilkos would do it?

You're a star! Thank you. Forgive me if I'm a bit thick here, but is anthracite the colour? I had been looking all over and didn't really know what to look for.

    Pleased to help. :A

Anthracite is actualy a type of coal, but the name is used to describe a colour. The nearest colour, I could find to slate grey. See here for sample colour > http://www.officedr.com/lacasse/gif/anthracite.jpg

Another vote for Colorfill kitchen worktop sealant, it can be used for worktop repair so I suspect it sets pretty hard and will stabilise the crack if you can work it in. THIS ebay seller is cheap and has all colours and colour charts on the listing.

FYI, caulk isn't waterproof. Silicon is.

Have you thought about buying a tube of black silicon and a tube of white silicon and mixing you own colour? M i've done it with a caramel colour that I wanted. It requires a few attempts to get the colour right but it does work.
