Job Offer and Credit Check Question

You only need to worry if you know of outstanding debts that collectors may chase, if they do a search your new address maybe added and linked to your old one on the credit file, and any outstanding debts held by debt collectors may now start sending letters to your new address.
Credit files are linked to a name and address, so if you had a clean history for 3 years at a new address with no issue you may have no problem.
Thanks, I am concerned due to your second paragraph, in your third paragraph you state "Credit files are linked to a name and address" yes I appreciate that, but are the computers of Experian et al clever enough to trace you JUST on name and DOB?...my current address is clean for 3 years with NO association/link to the past previous unpleasantness.0 -
A few months ago a new poster stated there other half had applied for a job, they got credit checked so their other halfs' address was updated, but since they held a joint current account together it affected their credit file too. (in terms of a change in a linked person)
Debt collectors then contacted the poster, as they were traced via the other halfs credit file address been updated. If you have been trying to avoid unpaid debts that are not statute barred (6 years) they could catch up with you.
As above its just an IT job, not handling cash, your unlikely to be in a security/compromising position or a place to make a financial decision. So they won't be looking in great detail. I've been in a 'secure' IT role which required CRB, Credit Check and Government Security Clearance.
If its them knowing about the past and making an informed decision then its fine, go ahead but if you have serious concerns about the past catching up with you, you need to take the above into consideration, its not rare to be chased by debt collectors (search the forum) but if they haven't found you in 3 years you 'might' be ok.
If you know they are using experian to check you, ring them and ask. If an employer asks for 3 years of addresses can they only check those addresses or will my full file (6 years regardless of address) be visible.Although no trees were harmed during the creation of this post, a large number of electrons were greatly inconvenienced.
There are two ways of constructing a software design: One way is to make it so simple that there are obviously no deficiencies, and the other way is to make it so complicated that there are no obvious deficiencies0
