Problems copying to CD

Hoping someone can help!! I am having problems with the cd drive on my laptop.

To cut a long story short I have just has a new system board put in and got the laptop back yesterday. I now find that I cannot read or write any of the cd's I made before laptop died, although pre recorded ones are fine.

Any ideas, anybody???

Was any software re-installed or the whole unit (including CD drive) swapped?

Are these CD-RW (have you installed nero/easycd), or CD-R , music - if music do they play in a CD player.
Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time?

They probably had to install new drivers for the board and you may have to reinstall nero or whatever. On my nero you need INCD from the nero disc before it will record to RW. Some of my older CD's were recorded using mount rainier which is a different way of writing the RW , they'll only read or record using the right nero version.
