Ebay item not as described

I bought two camping mats which arrived today. Listing says they are 8mm mats but they aren't. They are 6mm which makes a difference. I could have bought the 6mm mats cheaper from elsewhere. I can send them back but seller won't refund the return postage so it's not worth it. But he also refuses to put the correct information on the listing which is ongoing. He has instead simply added a note that says sizes are approximate which is totally misleading because the size is simply wrong.

Nothing I can do except leave bad feedback which I will do.

Rant over.

Persoanlly l feel the seller may now have covered his back very well by adding the size is Approx.

Is the seller a Business seller???? as this may change things alot with regard to a refund as if l am correct if you buy from a buisness you can express that they should arrnage collection rather than you send it back, and although he may dispute this if he does not refund the money within 30 days max after you have put in writing to him that you wish to cancel the purchase.

If however its a private seller, l feel you may have to swallow the loss i.e. the extra 2mm you where hoping for. As the previuos poster mentioned....leave feedback to reflect it

I checked and he doesn't have to pay the return postage which seems odd to me as it's not a matter of simply not wanting the item. Some will think that saying size approx is good enough but there are 3 common sizes, 6, 8 and 10 and to give the wrong size is devious and wrong. It's like calling a small loaf large and saying size approx.. it just won't do.

Anyway I'm clamer now and will leave the feedback when I'm able.. apparently I can't until 7 days have passed and it's only been 6.
  • IF it is a business seller, and IF it was a BIN/fixed-price listing, and IF you've had it less than seven days, you have an absolute right under the Distance Selling Regulations to return it for a full refund including delivery costs - under the 'Cooling Off' provisions. You don't even have to give a reason, but you do have to do it in time ;)

Of course if it's a private seller, or an auction, then no go.

If you're returning through the cooling off rules you have to pay the return postage yourself. That is entirely reasonable.

I have now given this guy bad feedback and he has corrected the listing so it has had some effect. Even if he changes it back in time, the bad feedback will still be there.
