to which tariff does this apply? is it not just the online tariff?
    Beware the green?
  • Martin jumped the gun when this was announced and advised people to review and change again.

I am with POWERGEN and been advised as I manage my account on-line the increase does not apply to me.

Maybe they know this is the customer group who would quickly move on.

I already have a quote 50% cheaper than my POWERGEN quote but as my a/c is in credit I may be no better off after my annual review, so I am waiting a full 12 months before deciding to move on or not.

The online tariff goes up from 31st Jan 2005
  • The Powergern online tariff DOES go up on 31st January 2005.

In order to make sure you do not pay the increase for Electric and/or Gas you have already used ensure you go online and give your latest meter reading before 31st Jan.

This is important - if you do not, when your readings are eventually done you will pay the new rate for all units since the last reading.

You take your own readings and enter them online.

If you get the readings wrong and - say - enter a higher reading -then you will be charged the lower rate for those units :o . Then the next time you give a reading you will pay the new rate for the units used since your last reading. Hope this makes sense. Just a way to 'bank' a higher reading at a cheaper rate. Not that anyone would ;)
I say barkeep -put at little more ice in there will you - theres a good chap. :)

just phoned powergen to see if they could reduce the rate i pay to avoid me switching, got their call center in India. i may switch as i didnt realise they have overseas call centers.
London Energy online would save me £40 a year

    Maybe not ?

The prices per unit on the switch and give site differ from those on the london energy online site.
    Electric:

londononline website 11.26 inc vat (first 225 units)
switchandgive website 8.010 (first 225 units)

    Gas:

London online website 2.7006 (first 1465 units)
switchand give website 2.500 (first 1465 units)

having received an e mail entitled "your online energy prices aren't rising- guaranteed" in November shortly after I switched to them !

Ok it seems that Zest4 are a lot cheaper (30% at the moment) so I'll give them a whirl - perhaps we should have a who has changed suppliers the most competition

Spoke to Powergen today re the price increase they notified.

Firstly, if your next bill spans the 31st Jan they will do a pro rate calculation to charge some of your supply at the pre increase price and some at the increased price.

Secondly, I advised I was going to switch and could they hold the price increase until I have moved to another supplier. I was called back and told that they would hold the price increase if I was switching and would also continue to honour the pre Jan 31st increase if I stay with them!!!!! Yippee
