Can anyone answer a few Bangkok Questions please?

Well I can only speak from my own personal experience and like I said I don't want to put anyone off as it's an amazing place but it has really tainted my opinion of Bangkok.

Thailand is an incredible place though and elsewhere the Thai's are some of the the nicest most hospitable people I have ever met - people on the islands will go stupidly out of their way for you. However there's always going to be some wrong'uns and it just so happens I seem to have met them all in Bangkok - just be careful is all I saying.

I have a house in bangkok and i want to add a few words of advice.
You ask about having a massage..I always go to WAT PO for a massage as this is where they teach Thai Massage and it is totally free of any sexual overtones...and its cheap...you will have to ask where the massage school is located as it is outside the templ. It is close to the Royal Palace.
You also ask about having a drink/ meal overlooking bangkok....try VERTIGO restaurant it is not cheap, but is outside on the 82nd floor of the Banyan tree hotel near to lumpini park....its a wonderful meal but you have to book and you can do this online.
Dont bother with the floating market......its really not worth it and takes far too much time.
I woudl strongly recommend a visit to JIM THOMPSON house known as the house on the klong ( the canals that criss cross BKK are called Klongs) its a wonderful experience and he almost single handed revitalised the Thai silk trade and was an arhitect and buit this lovely thai wooden house on a klong..you can get a good snack there in the restaurant.
You can also get a 3 day pass on the sky train to take you to MOST of the sites to see in BKK its cheap fast and very very clean. You will have a great time there i promise you..I am off next week to my house......Im just envious you will be there before me!!!!!
You MAY wish to try the one day trip to ayuthaya and the summer palace...this day long trip leaves from the Authors wing of the Oriental hotel
I woudl recommend that you take the trip by coach first and come back by river, you will be served a wonderful lunch on the riverboat on the journey back..its a great trip and everyone i have sent on this trip loves it.....
