More Boiler Problems

Hi All,

I had a problem with my boiler and was getting hot water but no heating. I called British gas and now had this problem fixed.

I took out the boiler cover so had a full inspection that has now thrown a spanner into the works. My boiler needs a new flue kit as there is nothing on the side of the house so they have classed my boiler as at risk.

The flue kit that I need is now obsolete. The engineer has given me the details so I can try and track the part down.

The part needed is a Brittony Combi 80 Flue Kit Concentric Horizontal Part Number 61016493 British Gas number E22517.

How urgent is this piece of kit? Seems a massive expense to get a new boiler just because they no longer make a part. The engineer seems to think my boiler is between 8-10 years old. I typed the details into the British gas website and a message popped up saying that a company has to supply replacement parts for at least 10 years, does anyone know anything about this?

Thanks in advance for your help

Sarah

Do a google search, there are many suppliers. Have you tried the manufacturers, it is most unusual for parts to be unavailable so soon.

    Hiya,

    Thanks for your reply.

I have checked loads of websites and British Gas have checked with the manufacturer. When I google it, nothing comes up... really running out of ideas.

Do you if there are any companys that make non branded parts?

  • Google powered heating components. If they cant get the part then its not gettable. Ask for Darren at phc, he is a nice guy and good at his job.02920 372834. The price you will be given is normal price. ie if a trade company calls they will get a discount. Long and short is if phc can supply then your engineer can call them and get then fit the part. Best of luck. Chris
