I smell gas!

Had a kitchen fitted a month ago. Can smell gas in the cupboard next to the coooker. Should I:
a) Search for leak with a naked flame?
b) Put up with it, after all it's been passed safe by the Gas Safe man?
c) Call out the gas man even though there is no significant pressure drop and I cannot detect a leak using soap solution?

If it were me and after ensuring it was not coming from an appliance thats just lit - ie you are smelling the initial unburnt gas - i would turn the gas off and get somebody around to investigate... the one thing you dont want to do is just leave it!
My OH parents had a gas cooker fitted by a gas man who signed it off.... only for the OH's parents to find that the pipe that fed the cooker was loose.
just because a "professional" has done it, does not always means its been done correctly!
gas buildup in an area like that is a disaster wating to happen.0 -
Thanks, guys. I know what I should do, so really must stop procrastinating.
Thanks to the person who voted for me to search for the leak too!!

Check your appliance isn't switched on unlit.
If possible turn your gas off at the mains.

There's no legal obligation to report a smell of gas, only a sensible one!.
National Grid have a legal obligation to attend within 12 hours, but set their own standard of 1 hour for a smell of gas0
