Monthly contents insurance? Help.

I've searched a little on the forum and can't find anything so am asking for advice.

I'm leaving my rented property moving but am in process of buying a house. Contents policy has ended and wasn't going to renew but process is draggin on and will be a month now before exchange. My question is, are there any companies that offer a purely month - by - month policy. I know there are companies that let you pay monthly but you are commited for a year. Want to avoid getting insurance then switching and changing terms of insurance as they tend to screw you in my experience.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Have you spoken to your current insurers about what they can do for you in this situation?

Won't a simple change of address do?

Thanks for the suggestions. Change of address wouldn't work because I would want to add buildings cover when I move, this would probably cost a lot more whilst in a contract, as opposed to a fresh quote...

May give insureres a call see what they say.

You can change your address and add buildings cover but as you say, it will prevent you from shopping around.

You can take a yearly policy then cancel it - but they will charge you for doing this (they call it an admin fee) and the cost does vary between insurers, quite considerably. However, if you end up getting a good deal when you re-insure after your move, it could be worth it?
