Do i have any chance of getting a refund, credit note or an exchange?
i recently brought an item from an Asian-Pakistani store, a wedding suit however when i got home to have a look at it i realised that the beads and art work were coming off and missing.
when i tried the suit on in the store nothing was out of place and it looked in good condition.
I have spoken to the manager of the store, and she says that once the item leaves the store it has nothing to do with them afterwards and she isn't willing to exchange or offer a credit note.
Her claim is that this is an Asian-Pakistani store and they abide by their own standards not the British ones even when the store i purchased the item from is from Birmingham.
The item i paid for is worth £260, and not even two days old. The item was purchased off the rack and was the one i tried on.
If i have any case who do i speak to and is it worth the hassle ?

If I understand this correctly the shop is in Birmingham, hence all applicable English Legislation is applicable - they are not above the Law just because they are an Asian-Pakistani shop.

Many thanks for the reply, having read all that and when stating to the owner of the shop. If they cause problems do you have any idea what kind of steps i need to take?0

As above, they are not above the law. Contact your local trading standards.0

I agree with the above.

Quite a frightening concept if different nationalities believe that the laws of the country in which they are living don't apply to them...0

Talk about trying to wrangle out of their legal responsibilities!0
