I have just used powdered milk for making custard!

It costs about 98p from tesco and it tastes great when making custard!

I found the same thing, fluff - it's been cheaper so far to buy fresh.
The ability of skinny old ladies to carry huge loads is phenomenal. An ant can carry one hundred times its own weight, but there is no known limit to the lifting power of the average tiny eighty-year-old Spanish peasant grandmother.

I use powdered milk for making bechamel sauce. it's much easier to get a lump free sauce when using hot milk. Last lot I bought was equivalent to 9 pints for 86p

Sorry can't help with the custard (I'm sure someone will be along shortly who can) but I use dried milk to make sauces - http://www.frugal-families.com/Recipes/magic-mix.htm
    I have plenty of willpower - it's won't power I need.

i just followed the instructions on the birds eye box!

it is really easy to make.

add two tablespoons of custard powder, then add a little of the milk (powered milk plus water mixed together to make one pint)
boil the rest of the milk.
when it's boiled, add the milk to the powder and return to the heat for about one minute and it's done

Have you tried the tesco value instant custard?
11p per sachet and mixes to about 3/4 pint.
I think that's the cheapest way of making custard and it's much nicer than it sounds!
