Zafira 08 plate - no alarm

Hi Guys

After a bit of advice and hope you can help.

We purchased an 08 plate Zafira on 30/05/09. At time of purchase we were informed the car had an alarm fitted and quoted this to our insurance company.

Fast forward to last Friday when drivers window was smashed and sat nav stolen (not my fault as DH had car !!!). The alarm did not sound

Subsequent investigations have shown the car has sensors fitted but the car does not have an alarm.

Is my insurance invalid? How do we address the missing alarm issue with the Network Q garage who sold us the car WITH an alarm?

Do you have any written proof that the car should of been sold with an alarm? If no then I dont think you have a leg to stand on. Especially almost a year after you bought it.
You will need to inform your insurance asap, an alarm usually brings insurance down slightly as its less likely to be stolen.

If the car is a base model Zafira then it's unlikely to have an alarm.

Just put in the window claim through the approved repairer. They are unlikely to ask about the alarm.

The mystery deepens. The car was 11 months old when we bought it and the Garage have now confirmed the car had an alarm fitted when bought from new.. The sensors are still in place but the alarm is not.

Network Q did not 'recheck' the alarm and I am awaiting them to call me back to dicuss this issue further.

I have had the window replaced but my concern is that I have declared an alarm and don't have one (although I'm hoping Newtork Q will rectify this situation shortly)

If Network Q supply an alarm then you'll be OK in future with the insurance.

Does it not have an alarm or is the siren missing? The battery backup siren is a PITA on Zafiras and the battery cells fail causing false alarms. Maybe the previous owner ripped it out?

An alarm wouldn't stop a scrote from smashing the window and grabbing the sat nav. :(
